The Vintage Sketchbook

An old book.
A new sketchbook.

Learn to turn an old hardcover book into a handmade watercolor sketchbook with my beginner-friendly, glue-only bookbinding method.

No drawing or watercolor experience is needed. You’ll learn to make the book itself, ready to use, give as a gift, or sell.

  • Choose a suitable old hardcover book and prepare its cover
  • Measure, choose, and cut your watercolor paper
  • Build and attach a new page block with glue, without sewing
  • Add endpapers and finishing touches to make it your own

A little reminder

“There is a whole world
in the things we almost walk past.”

Notice it. Make something of it.

Hello, I’m Bia

An artist.
A collector of
little wonders.

I’m Bia, a Brazilian illustrator and surface pattern designer based in France. My work is inspired by nature, nostalgia, and the quiet details of everyday life.

My name is Fabiana, but growing up, I was Ana or Aninha to my aunt. Fabiana usually meant she was being serious about something. My cousin called me Bia, and that’s the name that stayed with me.

Ana Banana Studio brings a little of that childhood into my creative life. Ana is a name full of affection and memories, and Banana gives it a playful rhyme that makes me smile. It feels right for a place where I can gather the things I love and share what I make.

Whether you know me as Ana, Bia, or Fabiana, I’m happy you’re here.
